Wow, this was our second time staying in the Dauphine Orleans and we absolutely loved it. Both times we've gotten a suite with jacuzzi bath located in the courtyard near the pool. The rooms were very different but equally romantic and had the same great amenities and privacy. I would definitely recommend staying at The Dauphine Orleans even in January. The weather was awesome. This time we stayed in the suite above the bar. We had not been aware that the hotel had been a brothel house or that the hotel was reportedly haunted. Much less, that a murder had been committed in our suite so it is more than a little unnerving that we experienced the same things other sites claim previous guests have experienced. Had a family friend not mentioned the hotel's reputation after we returned home to Houston, we would have never known that what we experienced was a haunting and not just odd, unusual feelings and experiences. So, bring some holy water or annointing oil and a fervent prayer to bless the room when you arrive! I wish I had! We will stay again but definitely NOT in that room. My only complaint is that I wish the staff had made us aware of its history when we checked in. Hopefully this remark will make it to the web site so others will be aware.
